International Conference on Evolution in Engineering & Management (ICEEM-2015), 30-31, January 2015

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AT HIGHER SECONDARY LEVEL- A CASE STUDY

Jasmine Mathew, Dr. M. K. Joseph

Abstract
India has formulated its education policy to attain the fourth sustainable development goal of the United Nations. The new education policy revived the inclusive education programs in Indian schools. At this point, it is crucial to evaluate the implementation of inclusive programs, understand their status, and identify measures to strengthen them. This paper describes the case study of a higher secondary school that admits students under the Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage scheme. Although this study demonstrates the inclusive environment the school provides for students with special needs, the absence of trained professionals such as special educators and social workers casts shade on the programs effectiveness.
